This interferes with the normal movement of food and waste material which leads to an accumulation of mucus and toxins in the intestine. This accumulated waste sets up a partial obstruction of the digestive tract causing trapped gas and stools, which in turn causes bloating,abdominal distention and constipation. On the other hand, some IBS sufferers may feel an urge soon after eating which may often be accompanied by cramps and diarrhoea.
